Some very interesting analysis from the PMNTS.com web site this week on the the share of varous prodct categories between the two retail giants.
The bottom line: Amazon has now exceeded Walmart's total retail sales, and outside grocery is leading or almost leading in almost all other categories, and growing it shares rapidly, as shown in the gaphic below:

Example: Walmart still leads in health and beauty, with about 6% market share – but that percentage has remained flat since 2019. Meanwhile, over that same period, PYMTS says, Amazon’s share of the category has grown from 2.5% to 5.1% in 2022, and will surely pass Walmart in the next year or so.
Begging the question "Is Walmary a giant grocery store that also sells retail products, or a mass merchant that also sells groceries?"
