You've probably heard by now that the Consumer Price Index for February came in at a painful growth rate of 7.9% versus the same month in 2021 - the highest monthly jump in 40 years and continuing the rampant inflation that shows no sign of ebbing.
But the price for food and oter grocery items is rising even faster. As seen in the graphic below, from the Wall Street Journal based on data from the Labor Department Thursday, grocery prices soared 8.6% in the month:

This is a punishi ng hit to consumers, especially lower and middle-income families. It also makes the inflation literally a so-called "kitchn table" issue.
As also can be seen in the chart, grocery prices actually declined year over year as recently as mid-2021.
