Supply Chain Graphic of the Week: Changing Supply Chain Priorities

Top Two Priorities in 2022 not in Top Five in 2020

March 3, 2022

How have supply chain priorities changed over the past two years?

Each year, the consultants from The Hackett Group issue a report on the key issues for the supply chain in the coming year, based on a survey of mostly senior supply chain professionals. That survey in part asks survey respondents to list their supply chain priorities for the year ahead.

In this year's report, Hackett shows changes in priorities from 2020 to 2022, as seen in the graphic below:

Some interesting notes. Not surprisingly, reducing costs was the top priority in 2020 - but that fell to the fifth spot in this year's study. Conversely, reducing supply chain risks topped the 2022 priotority list - but wasn't in the top 5 in 2020, nor was the number 2 priority this year, enhancing product availability.
