Accenture recently released a very bullish report on adoption of RFID in US retail, with a surveying finding 93% of retailers were involved in RFID pilots or deployments, with 47% in "adoption."
That sound high to us, but maybe so.
Accenture also says retailers are looking to expand use of RFID for use cases beyond basic inventory tracking, as shown below by major retail sectors:

Notably, Accenture observes that by expanding use cases, the ROI on the initial deployment of RFID increases.
