What US metro markets have the highest densities of industrial robots, as measured by robots per thousand manufacturing workers?
As part of a research report on the impact of new technologies on the design of warehouse and other industrial space, the real estate pros at Cushman & Wakefield included the chart below, ranking the top 10 US markets for robot deployment.
Midwestern and Southern towns dominate the list, almost certainly due to the heavy deployment of robots seen in the auto sector. Number 1 Toledo, for example, has a major Jeep plant in the city.
But other top 10ers, such as Grand Rapids, has a lot of manufacturing but not that much in automotive.
