Demography is destiny, as the saying goes, and across virtually all of the developed world and even some less developed nations, the deography is scary.
We're reported here before for example on rapidly falling birth rates around the globe, to much below replacementpopulation levels.
Here is more worrisome news: The US Census Bureau reported last week that adults 65 and older will soon outnumber children for the first time in America's history, as shown in the graphic below:
The Bureau adds that by 2030 all baby boomers will be older than age 65 and one in every five Americans will be retirement age.
This has many supply chain implications, but the societal ones are even more significant - there will not be nearly enough workers to support all those retirees.
