A recent survey and report by SCDigest has there will be aggressive plans by most companies to move supply chain software applications to the Cloud.
The survey of almost 200 supply chain professionals looked at a variety of supply chain software trends and opportunities, with a special focus on the future of Cloud-based solutions.
As can seen in the chart below from the report, more than one-third of respondents said
that Cloud will be "the future direction for all/almost
all of our supply chain software," a percentage SCDigest believes is much
higher than we would have seen even just two years ago.

What’s more, another 37.6% indicated Cloud would be the "future direction for some but not all of our
supply chain applications." Only just over one quarter of respondents said that Cloud-based
software would be adopted for only a small
portion of total supply chain applications or not at all.
The survey found that while only a small percentage of supply chain software is being run in the Cloud currently, that is expected to change substantially by 2020.
