The Trump Presidential campaign featured many promises of new tariffs coming on virtually all imports of goods into the US.
We are led to believe by the new White House that some may commence soon.
Which led the maritime analysts at Drewry to produce the simple table published below that shows the trade deficit in goods the US has with select countries, including most of the largest economies (Drewry is interested because of the potential impact of tariffs on global trade):
To no surprise the deficit with China led the way, at $270 billion through last November, followed by Mexico at $157 billion. We were a little surprised Vietnam was in the number 3 slot, at $113 billion.
