3D printing - there is certainly a lot of hype around the technology these days. Is that all overblown, or is 3D printing really starting to gain critical mass?

Hans Thalbauer, senior vide president of extended supply chain at SAP, says 3D printing is the real deal, delivering vaalue in almost every sector, from lower weight parts in the aerospace industry to custom creating just the right sole for runners in-store at athletic shoe maker New Balance.

This will all have a significant impact on supply chains, Thalbauer says - and supporting supply chain software as well.
