A couple of weeks ago, SCDigest reviewed a new research note from the analysts at Gartner that covered how the "Internet of Things" is becoming a reality, and its likely impact on the supply chain (see As Internet of Things becomes Real, New Opportunities for Supply Chain.)

Gartner expects there to be some 26 billion connected devices, machines, pallets of inventory and more worldwide by 2020, creating an explosion of data that must be first managed, then leveraged.
