That is about how many freight terminals are currently operated by carrier Hogan. Why is that in the news this week? Because privately held Hogan was acquired by St. Louis Enterprise Mobility, parent company Enterprise Rent-a-Car. The deal not only brings those 50+ terminals, but also some 1500 tractors in its dedicated business unit. Hogan operates a dedicated carrier business plus Classes 7 and 8 rental and leasing operations, but the acquisition would be Enterprise’s first foray into the heavy-duty commercial vehicle sector. $1.07 Trillion

That was China’s total trade surplus with the rest of the world through November, virtually guaranteeing it will for the first come in over that trillion-dollar mark for a full year. In the first 11 months of this year, China’s overall exports grew 5.4% compared to the same period in 2024 while imports fell 0.6%, taking its trade surplus to $1.076 trillion this year as of November, up 21.6% year on year. The move comes even as China’s US-bound goods fell for an eighth straight month despite a recent trade deal between the two economies.

Ionic Mineral Technologies was mining the clay in Utah when it chanced upon what could be the critical mineral equivalent of a gold mine, in what it says may be the most significant critical mineral reserve in the US. China dominates the critical minerals market while supplying about 90% of the world’s rare earths. The Trump administration sees critical mineral mining in the US as a national security priority: The minerals are used in everything from semiconductors for electronics to defense. The administration recently struck a deal with Australia to invest more than $3 billion combined in such projects.

$30 Billion

That’s how much money Amazon pledged to invest in India by 2030. The focus of the spend will be – what else – AI, as well as Cloud infrastructure. According to a press release, Amazon said the new funds will target AI-driven digitization, export growth and job creation, aligning with India’s national priorities to build up its local AI environment. By 2030, Amazon said the plan is expected to generate an additional 1 million direct, indirect, induced and seasonal jobs in India, quadruple exports to $80 billion and deliver AI benefits to 15 million small business.
