That is the approximate value of shipments of vodka being shipped by Food Network celebrity and restaurateur Guy Fieri and partner rocker Sammy Hagar that were stolen late last year, according to an interview with Fieri on the 60 Minutes show broadcast Sunday night. The thieves used something called “double brokering,” an increasingly popular form of digital fraud in the transport sector, to heist the loads. As reported by Transport Topics, two truckloads of Santo Tequila — a brand co-owned by Fieri and Hagar — disappeared somewhere between Texas and Pennsylvania late last year after fake carriers obtained the load through an online freight scam. Three weeks later, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Cargo Theft Unit recovered about 11,000 bottles in a Southeast L.A. warehouse. A second truck and its cargo remain missing.

That is the share of aluminum used by the US auto industry that is produced by a Novelis factory in Oswego, NY. At least, that was the share. The aluminum plant suffered significant damage in a recent fire that has left automakers scrambling. The factory is not expected to come back on line until early next year in the best case. One brand in production jeopardy: Ford’s best selling F-150 pick-up, the top selling vehicle in the country. Ford is the top customer of the Novelis factory, and some analysts are saying Ford is likely to identify this risk to its production from the lack of aluminum in its upcoming Q3 earnings report.

That’s how many exhibitors that will be on the show floor at the MODEX 2026 show and conference from MHI on April 13-16, 2026 at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. MODEX is held in even number years by MHI, alternating with the ProMat show in Chicago, produced by MHI in odd numbered years. Some 50,000 registrants are expected for this year’s MODEX event, as interest in automation remails high. MHI recently announced more show details, including the Day 1 keynote speaker, who will be Richard McPhail, CFO, The Home Depot. The last day will feature a Conversation with a Racing Legend Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

$300 Million

That incredibly is what Walmart says it is going to spend to build what we can only assume will be a highly automated distribution center near Charlotte, NC, according to an announcement this week. The 1.2 million square foot DC will focus on picking and shipping ecommerce orders for large, bulky SKUs such as lawn mowers and patio furniture. The facility is expected to open in 2027. It will be located in Kings Mountain, some 35 miles east of the Charlotte metro area. The facility is expected to create 300 new jobs.
