Will Few People Own Cars by 2030?

May 22, 2017

A new report from a California research frm named RethinkX predicts that by just 2030, the majority of cars will not be owned by individuals, but instead will be battery powered, autonomous vehicles summoned in Uber-like fashion on-demand.

This new era of so-called Transportation as a Service (TaaS) will have profound impacts on society, the economy, and more - starting with an estimate that annual US auto production will fall by 70% as a result.

Watch SCDigest editor Dan Gilmore discuss this new research, excerpted from the weekly video new broadcast from our Supply Chain Television Channel and CSCMP.
