It was in early 2012 that Dr. David Simchi-Levi of MIT first introduced his Risk Exposure Index (REI) - a breakthrough approach to quantifying and managing supply chain risk - during a Videocast on our Supply Chain Televison Channel.
Over the past three years, the REI has continued to evolve, and that includes being adopted in a big way by auto giant Ford, which has worked with Simchi-Levi to take the REI approach to new levels.
In fact, Simchi-Levi and Ford recently won the prestigious Wagner award at the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) annual conference. INFORMS is the leading professional organization for operations research and advanced analytics profesionals.
In this brief video clip, excerpted from our weekly supply chain video news program with CSCMP, Simchi-Levi overviews the REI in a discussion with SCDigest editor Dan Gilmore and then discusses recent REI progress and the success at Ford.
View the excellent video discussion now below - it's good stuff.
You will find a link to register for the upcoming Videocast the two discuss in the Video - in part telling Ford's REI succes - right here: Dr. David Simchi-Levi's Risk Exposure Index 3.0
