Supply Chain Graphic of the Week: Interesting Chart on CO2 Emissions

Getting to Zero CO2 Emissions by 2050 will not be Easy. BlackRock Projects

Aug. 18,  2022

An article this week in the Wall Street Journal detailed actions a group of state attorney generals are taking against giant investment firm BlackRock, accusing the firm of forgoing shareholder returns in persuit of climate change goals, more specifically "net zero" carbon emissions by 2050.

We'll leave that story for another day. But as part of a guest coumn by Mark Brnovich, attorney general of Arizona, came the graphic below, which originated from an earlier BlackRock report:

Projections on Carbon Emissions

As can be seen, the interesting chart shows that even if "pledges" for climate action made by various countries are executed - a very dubious assumption - by BlackRock's calculation it will leave global carbon emissions well above the goal of zero in now less than 30 years.

Just following already enacted policies will keep emissions basically flat.
