The level that trucking rates may ultimately increase due to the impact of CSA 2010, which creates a new safety reporting and rating structure for carriers and could lead to the loss of drivers whose record of violations may make them unemployable and push some smaller carriers from the market. That according to Kenny Lund, an executive at freight broker Allen Lund Co., as a several associations representing smaller carriers sued this week to delay CSA implementation in December. The extraordinary amount of damages - the largest amount ever in a software IP dispute - that a court ruled Thanksgiving week that SAP must pay competitor Oracle over an intellectual property battle stemming from the download of by an SAP affiliate of vast amounts of documentation for Oracle's ERP software. Planned level offshore manufacturing for Sony's TV division by year's end, up from 20-30% just a couple of years ago, as the electronics giant joins many other Japanese firms rapidly moving domestic production offshore, in part due to the rising value of the Yen.
