Here, we have taken the full day 1 video review and comment and broken out the cool new solutions Gilmore and materials handling editor Cliff Holste found on the show floor into individual segments, so readers can view just the solutions they are most interested in.
We start with a new label printer-applicator from Bell + Howell, which has some neat new features, among which includes the ability to run so-called "linerless" labels, which have a number of operational and envronmental benefits.

Grenzenbach Automation was at the show with a new palletizing robot that is capable of moving up to four cartons at once from conveyor to pallet, obviously having a big impact on throughput versus the single case movements that palletizers up to now have employed for mixed case pallet building.

It's not brand new, but the "Put Wall" concept from Dematic was on display, and the company said it is getting a lot of traction, especially in ecommerce/efufillment applications.

A company called Folded Packing was featuring a very interesting new packaging and dunnage material that is produced on-demand and seemed a very attractive alternative to peanuts and foam.

Finally for Day 1, we and many others were intrigued by a new solution coming from Aeroscraft, which has developed a blimp-like device for moving heavy cargo or delivering or picking up cargo in difficult to reach areas. Very intriguing - and there are probably more applications that you might imaging.
