The rise in spending in 2010 by companies for the relatively new category of “supplier risk and performance management software, according to the researchers at Forrester. The report says "buying organizations are eager to buy them to help avoid supplier disruption, pick better vendors and get the most value from existing relationships."

What consumer goods manufacturer JM Smucker plans to save each year from a supply chain network restructuring program, being just the latest in a string of CPG companies to announce such a move. As part of the move, Smucker will close four plants and open one new one.

Number of months since we’ve had an average price per barrel of oil higher than what we saw in March. With an average price of $81 a barrel for West Texas Intermediate crude, it’s the highest monthly average since the market saw $104 per barrel on average all the way back in September, 2008.
