As we reported earlier this week, Airbus announced it was embarking on a multi-year, three-phased program to RFID-enable almost every aspect of its supply chain. (See Airbus Plans Transformational RFID Roll-Out Across End-to-End Supply Chain.)
So, what are the plans? Below is an illustration
that depicts the Airbus vision.

To start, the program will focus on suppliers tagging parts/components and communicating shipment data/Advanced Ship Notices via the Airbus vendor web portal. The information will then be used to improve receiving processes at Airbus, enhance inventory visibility, and improve shipment accuracy.
