We all know the level of outsourcing happening in today's manufacturing environments, and the decline in the percentage of the total value added by the selling company versus its various supply chain partners - below 20% in many industries.
Still, it's interesting to see the net result in a picture. The graphic below, from a recent Wall Street Journal story, show the components and sources for a crane made by Manitowoc, a $3 billion US manufacturer.
