Everyone is aware of China's incredible rise as a manufacturing power, but seeing the real numbers is still somewhat astonishing. The figure below, using data through the end of 2005, the last year we for which we could find data, indicates for example that China manufactures at least 70% of all sewing machines sold worldwide - numbers which probably increased in 2006 and 2007.
