Several years prior to that, Jim Carr of PPG had told me that almost 30 years ago, PPG had become the second or third company in the US to create an LCC, after 3M, which had been the first. Now if Carr didn't tell me that story in passing, the history is probably lost. Fortunately, he did. He kept at it off and on - and many thanks to him for the effort. Two to three months later, he found a couple of people who looked like good candidates, but they didn't know the story either. But if I remember correctly, one of those people said he might know someone who was there, and sure enough, I eventually got a contact who was directly involved. |

Feedback on 10 Years of Supply Chain (Digest)
|

Supply Chain Digest has been very beneficial to the supply chain business overall. Thank you very much for your wonderful and dedicated service! Looking forward to what is going to happen over the next 10 years. I have some interesting visions in mind of what supply chain engineering and management can and will do nationally and globally.

Congrats on 10 years Dan! I think you do a nice job of covering a lot of the buzz in our industry from the developing practices and supporting IT slant. When I was an Ops VP I read nearly every edition. In recent years as CEO, I try to open the letters at least very frequently and as my interest in the topic demands. Tom Miralia |

I only go back to 2006 with SCDigest and then 2009 when you interviewed me https://www.scdigest.com/assets/On_Target/09-10-21-2.php regards TMS, but as a 30 year transportation /supply chain veteran I have seen a few things too. Many have been good, technology to say the last to manage "big data", some bad such, as the Walmart RFID project you noted. The only constant in all of it, nothing new, is change. Covering this change is one thing, and many do so, but you work hard to challenge supply chain professionals to move with the change. I am not sure many in this profession do, but I truly applaud SCDigest efforts to cover as much as you do and provoke thought and insightfulness for your readership to apply to their business. 10 years is a good run for any entrepreneur. I wish you continued success. Eugene Nusekabel Transportation Manager NexeoSolutions |

You and your un-biased and enlightened publication have helped move the practice of Supply Chain Management from the dark corners of the company's back room to the front office and board room. Careers have been enriched and companies have seen real improvements due to the SC practices that you highlight and even champion. Congratulations on the 10 years and I look forward to reading and learning from you for many years to come.

Q: Speaking of supply chain history, what company turned P&G down on the Continuous Replenishment Program before Walmart said Yes?
