Supply Chain Graphic of the Week: Photographic Evidence of Amazon Trucking

Report Amazon Ordering Its Own Branded Tractors Supported by Amateur Photo

Oct. 17, 2018

While Amazon continues to mostly downplay its logistics intentions, an interesting report from Business Insider this week saying that the on-line giant is rolling out a fleet of branded truck tractors in its latest move to become a full-fledged logistics company.

Volvo and Kenworth are reported to be manufacturing the tractors.

And there is picture evidence. The Business Insider included a photgraph of dozens of Amazon-branded  tractors parked at a Kenworth lot, taken by amateur photographer Brad Phipps.

This is a big deal. While Amazon has had branded trailers since 2015, those to date are hauled by commercial carriers.

Now it appears Amazon will often be taking the wheel - and with that the need to hire its own drivers. Amazon continues to build its own broad portfolio of logistics capabilities.
