Supply Chain Graphic of the Week: Best Markets for DC Labor


New Report from CBRE Includes Chart Plotting Warehouse Labor Cost and Supply

Not that we probably need to tell you, but it's a tough market for distribution labor out there right now.

 

A new report from real estate firm CBRE on the topic generated the headline news that demand for warehouse workers, driven by ecommerce, is growing faster than the labor supply. No kidding.

 

SCDigest will summarize that report next week, but here wanted to share a very interesting chart it contains.

 

As seen below, the graphic charts major US metro areas along two dimensions: warehouse labor supply and warehouse labor costs:

 


As can be seen, very well-positioned markets include Louisville, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Nashville, and especially - standing far from the pack - Memphis. Worth considering in DC location decisions.
