Another supply chain executive is on the move, as Furniture Brands International recently announced that it has hired former Newell Rubbermaid executive Raymond Johnson as its new senior vice president of global supply chain.

The title represents a bit of an upgrade from the role of vice president of supply chain and logistics that had been held at FBI by Mike McBreen until last summer, when he moved to take a similar role at shoemaker Wolverine Worldwide after just 15 months in the top post at FBI.

Johnson was president of global manufacturing and supply chain for Newell Rubbermaid prior to joining FBI. In this new role, Raymond will manage an integrated supply chain organization, with primary responsibility for all of FBI's supply chain functions, including manufacturing, engineering, sourcing procurement and logistics.

"Our ability to effectively source raw materials and deliver finished products on a global scale is a key differentiator between Furniture Brands and many of our smaller competitors,” said FBI CEO Ralph Scozzafava.

In the top supply chain role at Newell Rubbermaid, Johnson had been in charge of the company’s Newell Operational Excellence program, which was an enterprise-wide productivity program that focused on using Lean, Six Sigma and other tools and techniques to increase efficiency.
