The number of “anti-globalization” marchers at an event in Sweden last week. Globalization is being blamed for an increasing number of ills in both Western and some developing economies, which may ultimately result in changing policies in many countries.

The reduction in output ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel maker, said this week it is planning for the near term in the face of slowing global demand. The impact on steel prices on the slowing demand and the planned production cuts remain uncertain.

The “chargeback” per pallet for vendors to Wal-Mart Sam’s Club chain that do not put RFID tags on all pallets sent to the division’s six DCs, starting Oct. 30. According to the September issue of RW Baird’s “RFID Monthly” newsletter, some suppliers may simply accept the fine rather than go to the expense of setting up tagging systems.

The number of months, after a 60-day, phase-in period, under which it is expected the Customs and Border Protection Agency will not assess penalties for failure to meet the new “10+2” advanced communication rules for imported goods to the US.  The finalization of the rules is expected to be imminent, according to a CPB Deputy Commissioner.
